Watches and Wonders 2024: Cyrus introduces Twin Orbital Tourbillon and a Klepcys Reveil

The independent Swiss brand Cyrus Genève brings a new Etheral series that celebrates kinematics along with a new edition in its Alarm collection
For watches and Wonders 2024, Cyrus unveils a new Etheral Collection with “Twin Orbital Tourbillon'', an innovative 18-piece limited edition debuting in round case, along with a new Klepcys Reveil model in its pre-existing Alarm collection.

Twin Orbital Tourbillon

Twin Orbital Tourbillon

The Etheral Twin Orbital Tourbillon is a 44mm timepiece crafted in 4N rose gold with grade 5 titanium inserts on lugs and functional twin crowns— the crown at 3 o’clock winds the watch and sets the time, while the crown at 9 o’clock allows quick time setting. The three dimension dial with contrasting shades of black, anthracite and rose gold features two flying tourbillons, jumping hour, which is indicated by two discs in the form of an 18° inclined truncated cone. The time is always read horizontally, irrespective of the components.

As the hour passes, all the above-mentioned components change positions, thanks to the new hand-wound calibre CYR518-E, equipped with a double barrel, boasting a 72-hour power reserve. The movement created by Jean-François Mojon and his team, also entails three patent applications.

A hand-stitched black crocodile leather strap, with a 4N rose gold pin buckle with grade 5 titanium inserts flanks the case.

The Alarm collection’s updated Klepcys Reveil features a 42mm steel case, whereas the earlier models in the line have 46mm case size. It has two functional crowns, one at 3 o’clock and one at 9 o’clock—the 9 o’clock crown in the previous models were not functional but were there to balance the design codes.

The refined grenage decoration dial of the timepiece is also appearing in the line for the first time. It features a bell shaped hammer in between 7 o’clock and 8 o'clock, which is brushed finished and polished and strikes to signal the alarm time set on the dial, producing a
sound, for a minimum 16 seconds. More on the dial are luminescent Arabic hour markers, rhodium-plated openworked hands with electric blue tips. There is a 24-hour scale and minutes subdial located between 4 o’clock for the alarm, a day and night indication at 11 o’clock displaying day with blue sky with the sun and night with starry sky.

Powering the watch is an in-house manufactured hand-wound calibre CYR1280, which can be admired through the caseback, and offers a 72-hour power reserve. A glossy black alligator strap, with a steel folding clasp customised with the Cyrus logo completes the timepiece.
